Our Philosophy

There is no such thing as a bad dog.

With the right type of training and a little patience, anything is possible—we can transform your relationship with your dog.

We only use positive, humane, and scientifically-proven training methods. We do not condone the use of force, punishment, choke collars, or shock collars. We believe that dogs should always be treated with the respect they deserve—your dog’s welfare is our top priority.

Our Proven Results

“Excellent service with a true understanding and caring attitude of the what needs to be done to resolve the problem, thank you for your help and support!”
Carol Argyrou (Pets: Avril, Maggie, and Amy)

“Stephanos and his approach towards dog training is what has been missing in Cyprus and we are thrilled to be working with him! Aria loves him and his method has been a real eye opener with respect to what is achievable through positive reinfrocement. Most importantly, the realization that it's not just Aria that is being trained but ourselves as well, by a patient, caring, and great teacher!”

“We started working with Stephanos when Frida was 6 months old. We mainly encountered obedience issues dealing with our frisky and playful terrier! Jumping all over ourselves and guests, refusing to repeat supposedly learned routines, pulling her leash when walked, and many more issues.
After almost two months, we made quite a bit of progress! We still have a long way to go but at least we are on the right track! What we really appreciated with Stephanos, was his approach to Frida and the learning process. Positive reinforcement and avoidance of any cruel training techniques was a must for us so we were really excited when we saw Stephanos working with Frida and guiding us through exercises to achieve the desired behaviors!”

“When I was searching the internet for a dog trainer in Cyprus, I came across the Cyprus School of Dog Training with a lot of recommendations, so I decided to give it a try. Our case was difficult as Mocca is from a pound. She was adopted when she was puppy and she is very scared. So I was looking for a person who would understand and knows exactly how to deal with such a case. And I have to say I'm really satisfied with Stephanos's training, the affection and patience he showed to Mocca. He did amazing an job and I see a lot of improvement. I would recommend the Cyprus School of Dog Training to anyone who wants great training by people who genuinely care about dogs and great results.”

“Hello there! My name is Ugo, I’m a 5 year old little monster (Jack Russell cross) and my mother used to say that I’m a very naughty boy... though I believe I’m just smart, energetic, and creative (I can restyle shoes in seconds!). That’s what Stephanos Severis (my trainer) also believes... I love this human! From the moment I saw him, he became my best friend! I can’t wait for my training sessions! We are always playing games together which I enjoy a lot (how do you call them? exercises?). Best of all, he always has yummy treats with him! He never gets angry when I do something wrong and he praises me when I do the right thing. He patiently taught me some incredible tricks and behaviours that please my mum… and you know what? They can be lots of fun too (yes... more than restyling her shoes)! We make a super team together! Well, my little furry friends, go tell your mums and dads about this training school, I swear to my treats that you will not regret it!”

“Our training sessions with Stephanos were an amazing learning experience for both myself and for Nala. I learned that, with positive reinforcement, you can teach your dog anything. Nala enjoyed our training sessions and we definitely bonded even more. Stephanos was amazing to Nala and she was always excited to see him. Stephanos was always understanding to our different needs and very accommodating. With a big smile on his face, he was always keen to work with us. I definitely recommend him!”

“Stephanos is a great trainer! Our Youyou is a rescued dog with quite a few issues; Stephanos listened to all the problems, noting them down, and observed YouYou. Not only did he advise us on how to tackle them but he also explained his philosophy on dog training, which we found very useful and effective. Thank you Stephane!”

“Buda is a deaf, rescued puppy, a mix of Jack Russell and, well, something. The first month of having him in the house was sheer chaos: he would not listen (because he couldn't!) and he would act in ways that we couldn't understand or control. We were in fact thinking of giving him up because we have two young children and we weren't sure if he was dangerous for them, especially for the two-year-old. Enter Stephanos: within an hour and a half of training, our life with Buda changed! He showed us how to control him without words, using signs and light, and without the use of force or negative punishment—which was an incredibly pleasant surprise. Buda 'got it' on the spot! He's got a few more training sessions coming up and we can't wait. We know that he can and will be trained. The next training session will involve our 6-year-old son: we're all part of his training because he's a part of everyone's lives. And Stephanos's training makes that possible and achievable. We have bonded with him and feel at ease with him; his disability is no longer an issue. As Stephanos puts it: "everything is possible with dogs" and I add "if you have the right trainer!”
Angeliki & Buda

“Stephanos taught me not to be rough with the dog, because then he gets wild and it hurts him. Because [when I play rough with the dog] he thinks that my arms are like mouths, and that I bite him.”
Petros (6 years old) & Buda

“Oliver, my 4 month old Chihuahua, while very motivated and willing to please, can be very stubborn. I was having difficulties with training (mainly potty training, biting and his fear of vehicles) basically because my approach was the problem, not my Chi. I was getting a bit frustrated. I wanted to have fun while training him. I wanted my puppy to enjoy it too, so we approached Stephanos for guidance. As Oliver is my first dog, obedience lessons would be a good idea to further my confidence in taking Oliver out in public often. After our first session, Oliver picked up potty training and a month after I’m proud to say we only had one “accident”. After lots of practice, Oliver is recovering from his fears. Not only am I more confident in bringing Oliver with me everywhere but our bond has grown stronger. Stephanos really helped me see how vital structure and consistency is for Oliver’s happiness and well-being. Oliver is becoming a much more well-balanced dog!
Stephanos has a true understanding of dogs and their underlying motivations. He is a fantastic trainer who explains, demonstrates, and gives you an opportunity to practice the new commands with your dog. I love that Stephanos only focuses on a few new commands per week, works with treats, and then gives you homework after each session to work on before progressing to the next commands. I would highly recommend Stephanos to people with new pups and old dogs alike. I would recommend him if this is your first dog or if you have had several. I would recommend Stephanos if your dog has behavioral problems or even if you think your dog is well  behaved. Basically, I think all dogs and owners should come see Stephanos.”
